The showcase of Ukrainian culture at THE ARTS+ platform during the Frankfurt Book Fair
The Ukrainian Institute invites you to discover the diversity of the Ukrainian culture during the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The stand #4.1/H36 is a part of the THE ARTS+ platform, which serves as a gateway between publishing and the international creative industries.
Two multimedia projects will showcase the past and present of culture in Ukraine as well as present the devastating impact of war on art. A curated selection of art books will complement the display. The stand is a part of the THE ARTS+ platform, which serves as a gateway between publishing and the international creative industries.
The audiovisual artwork Discover Ukraine: Bits Destroyed immerses the viewer in the Ukrainian monumental art of the 1960s and 70s. The animated project features images of 56 mosaics by Alla Horska, Hryhorii Pryshedko, Halyna Zubchenko, Ada Rybachuk, Volodymyr Melnychenko, and other Ukrainian artists. More than a quarter of these works have been damaged or destroyed since the beginning of the Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The installation was created by the Ukrainian Institute and the Rock ‘n’ Light Studio based on documentary photographs by Yevhen Nikiforov.
A digital guide to Ukrainian culture Insight.UA covers various areas: music, literature, theatre, cinema, visual arts, Crimea, and analysis. The platform invites you to explore Ukrainian culture through different formats – from a selection of Ukrainian films, exhibitions and books to playlists or online courses.
The stand of the Ukrainian Institute was designed by the architecture office Plur, the design agency Spiilka and the art director Nastia Zherebetska and realised with the support of the Goethe Institute and the Open Society Foundations.
