National Identities between Empires: Perspectives from Ukraine and Luxembourg

On the occasion of both Liberation Day (8 May) and Europe Day (9 May), Sofiia Andrukhovych, multiply translated Ukrainian writer, and the renowned author and cultural journalist Jeff Schinker from Luxembourg will talk about the emergence, existence and survival of national identities between the European empires.

The two authors will be offering insights into the search for identity of nations and people who are usually covered in a modest number of pages in history books. The authors approach this complex topic with excerpts from their works and personal experiences.

Kateryna Rietz-Rakul, Head of the Ukrainian Institute in Germany, will moderate the evening.
