Jakob Hauter, author of the book “Russlands unbemerkte Invasion” (Russia’s Unnoticed Invasion), will present his work and discuss his research with Nikolas von Twickel (LibMod). The event is dedicated to the question of how the escalation of violence in Ukraine in 2014 can be understood as a Russian invasion – contrary to the popular belief that it is a civil war.
Hauter’s book analyses the Russian aggression against Ukraine and is based on a detailed evaluation of publicly available digital sources. The author emphasises that the internet not only serves as a medium for propaganda, but also contains valuable original sources for research and information that can be used by experts and the general public alike with the right method.
In a discussion with Nikolaus von Twickel, an expert on Eastern Europe and editor at the Zentrum Liberale Moderne, Jakob Hauter will explain his theses on geopolitical developments and their significance for German Ukraine policy since 2014. The discussion will also shed light on current debates about arms deliveries and diplomatic initiatives.
The evening will be moderated by Dr Kateryna Rietz-Rakul, head of the representative office of the Ukrainian Institute in Germany. Dr Rietz-Rakul holds a doctorate in literature, is a cultural manager and the author of several books and articles on international cultural cooperation.
The book “Russlands unbemerkte Invasion” (Russia’s Unnoticed Invasion) is available in bookstores and online from the publisher ibidem and on Amazon. It will not be sold at the event, but the author will be happy to sign copies that guests will bring with them.
