Ukrainian contributions can be seen in Panorama Dokumente, Retrospektive, and Berlinale Classics, among others. In addition, projects will be pitched at the European Film Market (EFM), and production companies will be present at the Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents.

Panorama Dokumente 

• „Traces“

World premiere in the Panorama Dokumente section.

This documentary tells the story of Ukrainian women’s solidarity in the fight against war-related sexual violence and their commitment to international justice. It focuses on the stories of six Ukrainian women who survived sexual violence at the hands of Russian military personnel.

Retrospektive & Berlinale Classics 

• “Decay”

  The film is considered the first feature film about the Chornobyl nuclear disaster. 

• „Kryshtalevyi Palats“

  World premiere of the digitally restored version in the Berlinale Classics series. 

• Retrospective Talk „Lost in the 90s: Film Heritage in Transition“
  With Heleen Gerritsen, Tomasz Kolankiewicz, Ivan Kozlenko, Stefanie Eckert and Eva Näripea. 
  The topics are (re)discoveries of lost films from the 1990s, questions of rights clearance, and the development of archive holdings from the Cold War era. 

European Film Market & Industry programs

Ukraine is also present in the industrial sector:

• The production company 2Brave Productions is participating in the Company Matching Program of the 23rd Berlinale Co-Production Market.
• Ukrainian director Lesia Diak has been selected for the Berlinale Talents program, in which a total of around 200 filmmakers from all over the world are participating.
• The animated documentary “Red Zone” by Iryna Tsilyk, produced by Moon Man Film Production, will be pitched at the EFM Animation Days as part of the European Film Market.
• The following Ukrainian projects will be presented at the European Film Market (EFM) during the Berlinale at the event “Ukraine on Screen: Film Policy, Project Presentation and Co-Production Opportunities”:

The presentation offers international producers and decision-makers the opportunity to network with current Ukrainian projects and develop prospects for cooperation.

The projects were selected through an open competition organized by the Ukrainian Institute in collaboration with the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The initiative aims to inform international partners about current developments in Ukrainian film policy and open up new co-production opportunities.
