Under the musical direction of Canadian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, the national ensemble of soloists KYIV CAMERATA presents a concert of works by Ukrainian composers from the 20th and 21st centuries. The performers include mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo, Bohdana Pivnenko (violin), Kateryna Suprun (viola) and Dmytro Tavanets (piano).

The programme includes compositions by Borys Liatoshynsky, Yevhen Stankovych, Oleksandr Rodin and others, as well as the world premiere of Zoltán Almáši‘s The City of Mary, a work thematically based on the russian siege of the city of Mariupol in 2022. In addition, excerpts will be read from Aurélie Bros‘ book, ’A Ray of Light in the Darkness: Women’s Letters from Ukraine to the Free World”.

The proceeds of the concert will go to the City of Goodness project of the UA RENAISSANCE foundation, which supports women, children and animals affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The initiative is financed entirely by donations.

The benefit concert will be preceded by a memorial event called “Voices of Freedom” on the square in front of the Berlin Philharmonic from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. It commemorates Ukrainian artists who have lost their lives in Russia’s war of aggression. The event is being organized by Save Ukraine e.V. from Weinheim.
