Call for proposals for German-Ukrainian cultural projects 2024

The Ukrainian Institute in Germany together with the Artsvit Gallery within the framework of the project “RAZOM/RHIZOM. Reinforcing Transregional Cultural Partnerships” announces an open call. This call is aimed at Ukrainian and German NGOs operating in the socio-cultural sphere and intending to implement joint German-Ukrainian projects in 2024.

About the funding program 

The funding program “RAZOM/RHIZOM. Reinforcing Transregional Cultural Partnerships” is organized by the Ukrainian Institute in Germany and the Artsvit gallery and funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.    

The main objectives of the competition are: 

  • building and strengthening Ukrainian-German partnerships to create long-term relationships and cooperation between the participants; 
  • implementation of artistic and cultural projects aimed at drawing the attention of the general public to the topic of an open and democratic society in Europe; 
  • increasing the resilience and professional expertise of NGOs from the regions of Germany and Ukraine; 
  • exchange of experience between artists and cultural professionals from Ukraine and Germany.

Who can apply?

Project applications are accepted from both NGOs that already have a partner in Germany/Ukraine and from NGOs that do not yet have a partner. 

Conditions for participation

  • confirmation of the status of a non-governmental organisation; 
  • implementation of projects in the regions of Germany, in cities with a population of up to 150 thousand people; 
  • mandatory joint implementation of the project in a German-Ukrainian partnership; 
  • projects should address fundamental values such as human dignity, the right to life and free development, equality before the law, social justice, freedom of religion or belief, freedom of communication, popular sovereignty, majority rule, political participation and civic responsibility, legal protection, environmental protection, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. 
  • The programme supports a wide range of artistic formats in the fields of music, performing, theatre and visual arts, cinema, literature, etc. 

Amount of funding

Up to 20,000 euros.

Full or partial financing of projects is possible.

 

Timeline of the application&selec-tion process

First round of selection: 

  • submission of project ideas by 13 May 2024. 
  • announcement of the pre-selection results on 30 May 2024. 
  • a networking meeting for pre-selected organisations (online, date to be announced). During the meeting, participants who do not yet have a partner in Germany/Ukraine will be able to find a partner organisation to implement a joint project. Organisations that are already part of the Ukraine-Germany bilateral partnership at the time of application and pass the first round of selection will also be invited to the networking event, where they will be able to expand their cooperation by involving another organisation from Germany/Ukraine. 

Please note: being selected for the second round of selection does not guarantee funding. 

Second round of selection: 

  • submission of joint projects by 7 July 2024
  • announcement of the results of the final selection on 30 July 2024. The projects selected after the second round will be eligible to receive funding of up to EUR 20,000 (twenty thousand). 
  • implementation of selected projects by 31 December 2024. 

Please note: after the first round of selection and finding a partner during the networking event, the joint project is expected to be based on the project ideas that were included in the project application in the first stage.

Please attach the following to your email: 

  • A completed application form in English in PDF format and named in the format Project title_application, with a signature and stamp, if any. 
  • Scans of documents confirming eligibility for participation in the programme in PDF format in English, Ukrainian or German (up to 5 MB) and named in the format Company’s name_eligibility docs (Extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organisations for participants from Ukraine; if there is a partner organisation in Germany, an extract from the register of legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and public organisations, as well as a letter of intent from the partner organisation. 
  • Preliminary project budget (in English), named in the format Project title_budget, with signature and seal, if any.
